About me
Participatory Mural by Xavier Cortada
Nearly 250 years after the Declaration of Independence was drafted in Philadelphia, Declaration of Interdependence invites the public to participate in a collective act of authorship to address a vital question: What does democracy require of us today?
Write your reflections, commitments, concerns, hopes and aspirations for the future of American democracy. Throughout the day, these handwritten messages are collected and collaged onto three canvas panels by artist Xavier Cortada, transforming them into a collaborative mural. The completed piece will stand as both artwork and public record, a reminder that democracy flourishes through interdependence.
